Rotations – a compelling celebration of sport and art – (2010-2012)

Kompany Malakhi continue to create unique and cutting edge work with this gritty yet graceful exploration of cause and effect.

Rotations began as project 360° in 2008 and currently exists as a duet between a BMX flatlander and B-Boy (breakdancer). It is now going into its next phase of development that will produce an outdoor performance and a dance on film.

Outdoor Performance

Kompany Malakhi continue to create unique and cutting edge work with this gritty yet graceful exploration of cause and effect. Combining the extreme sport of BMX Flatland with Breakin’ (breakdancing), Parkour and Contemporary Dance, Rotations twists and turns in an intricate and elegant game of rumours and whispers. Available in either short duet or longer quartet format, it is an innovative and compelling celebration of art and sport working towards the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Rotations will be touring the UK and internationally from Summer 2010 leading up to the Cultural Olympiad 2012.

Dance on Film

BMX was proven to be an extremely popular sport at the Beijing Olympics and Rotations can build on that success. Parkour/Free Running has captured the imagination of young people, media and film companies across the globe. We are excited about capturing and fusing these new urban sports as a piece of dance on film over 2010-2012.

Choreography: Kwesi Johnson

Cast: BMX Flatlander — Josh Briars, B-Boys — Jake Nwogu and Craig Turner
